Prayers to Our Lady

The Holy Rosary
Caravaggio, Madonna of the Rosary · Painting · Public domain · Wikimedia Commons

The Rosary is prayed on a string of beads. With each decade we think about one mystery, an event in the life of Jesus and Mary, while saying the prayers.

How to pray it

  1. Make the Sign of the Cross and say the Apostles’ Creed.
  2. On the first large bead, say the Our Father.
  3. On the next three beads, say three Hail Marys, for faith, hope and charity.
  4. Say the Glory Be.
  5. For each of the five decades: announce the mystery, then say one Our Father, ten Hail Marys and one Glory Be. Many add the Fatima Prayer.
  6. At the end, say the Hail, Holy Queen and the closing prayer below.
