National Shrine of The Divine Mercy

In 1944 the Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, a religious order founded in Poland, bought an estate on Eden Hill, in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. They began to spread the devotion to the Divine Mercy revealed to Saint Faustina Kowalska. They printed millions of prayer cards with the image “Jesus, I trust in you” and published her Diary in English.
The shrine church was built by the Fathers and volunteers between 1950 and 1960, and the US bishops designated it a National Shrine in 1996. Its grounds include an outdoor shrine, Stations of the Cross, a rosary garden and the Marian Helpers Center.
On Divine Mercy Sunday, the Sunday after Easter, some twenty thousand pilgrims come for Mass, confession and veneration of the Divine Mercy image. At three o’clock every afternoon the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed.
