First Reading
Romans 5:12, 15b, 17-19, 20b-21
12Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death passed to all men because all sinned.
15But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.
17For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ. 18So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life. 19For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous. 20The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly, 21that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Responsorial Psalm
6Sacrifice and offering you didn’t desire.
You have opened my ears.
You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.
7Then I said, “Behold, I have come.
It is written about me in the book in the scroll.
8I delight to do your will, my God.
Yes, your law is within my heart.”
9I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly.
Behold, I will not seal my lips, LORD, you know.
16Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you.
Let such as love your salvation say continually, “Let the LORD be exalted!”
Gospel
35“Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning. 36Be like men watching for their lord when he returns from the wedding feast, that when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him. 37Blessed are those servants whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you that he will dress himself, make them recline, and will come and serve them. 38They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch and finds them so.
